The 2.2 liter Alfa Romeo JTDM diesel engine, also known as Multijet II, has been produced by CNH Industrial since 2015. It has been developed for models such as the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio, and was recently installed in the Jeep Wrangler. This engine is available in a variety of power and design features, including a cast iron block version for Fiat Ducato vans.

Disadvantages, breakdowns and problems of the JTDM 2.2 engine
- Air filter contamination: In the early years of production, the engines suffered from oil vapor contamination in the filter. This problem was resolved in 2017 with the modernization of the crankcase ventilation system.
- Antifreeze leaks: Some models suffered from antifreeze leaks through the thermostat and its tubes.
- G timing belt: It is important to keep an eye on the condition of the timing belt, as it can cause valve bending if it breaks.
- Intake and EGR clogging: As with all modern diesels, problems can occur with clogging of the intake system, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and particulate filter.
- Oil pump malfunction: There are many recommendations online to improve this unit, as oil pump problems have also been reported by owners.
This engine is reliable, but requires regular maintenance, especially in terms of replacing consumables and monitoring the condition of the timing system and crankcase ventilation.
